[RESOLVED] IE Problem
I have a client's PC I just installed XP Pro on last week. Client called 4 days late to let me know they cannot access the Intenet. I check the Ipconfig and and all is OK. I can ping web sites witrh no problem. Checked for virus and spyware, no problems. Afetr restoring all the IE settings back to default, still cannot bring up any websites. Finaly I decided to use Firefox to access the web. Cannot connect to web because proxy server cannot be found. What the ?????? I check the settings in IE and find the proxy server is checked. I uncheck, apply and say OK, only to find out it is still checked. How do I GET THIS PROXY SERVER OUT OF HERE SO I CAN GET IE TO CONNECT TO THE WEB? TIA
It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!

This may or may be it but it will give you some info into proxy servers and where they are in the registry. Good luck

I thought you wanted to get rid of the proxy server.
So I retrieved a page where you can see in the registry where the keys are for proxy's. As you have said you cannot seem to un check the proxy.

Further update, I have rset the registry settings, rebooted the PC and looked in the registry to find all the settings are back again. I have followed the link Ferrit supplierd and checked for group policies and found none implemented. I have looked for a batch file and there is none in evidence. I am ata atotal loss as to what is going on. Any more ideas?

I have resolved the problem. I did use hijackthis but came up with nothing on it, so, I did the next best thing. I wiped it out and reinstalled XP Pro. Hopefully my client will be a little more careful and will not be into something in less then a week like the last time. Thank you for everyone's help.
Side note: I di not get informed by email of the last 2 responses or I would have responded quicker.
