    Post OPTi 82C924

    Hi!
    I really need your advice on this one.

    I recently upgraded my computer from Windows95 to Windows98 and I'm having difficulty installing the driver for the sound.
    OPTI 82C924A .
    The computer is a "Mecer" pentium 500.
    I tried installing the Windows95 driver but it doesn't work for Windows98.
    Could you tell me what to do to fix this problem?

    Okay what kind of error message are you receiving when trying to load the 95 sound drivers? Try this link and download the 95 drivers for that sound card:
    <a href="http://netabode.topcities.com/924w95dx.zip" target="_blank">opti </a>

    if your still having problems with that file I told you to download, then copy all .vxd and .drv files from that download to \windows\system directory and reboot.
    I think the problem is either an ID10T or PEBCAK error

    Sounds to me like you need a driver update. Did you check the website or even the Win98 disk itself? Also, does the Microsoft Knowledge Base located at: <a href="http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/c.asp?fr=0&SD=GN&LN=EN-US" target="_blank">http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/c.asp?fr=0&SD=GN&LN=EN-US</a>

    have a particular issue/answer to this particular piece of software?

    Might be worth a look. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

    Hi, its me again.
    I have tried reloading the drivers (Win95 - there just aren't any available for Win98), but with no success. The Win98 CD does not have any drivers for the OPTi82C924A card, only the 931 and 933.
    The "sound system" shows 3 components:
    * OPTi Plug-N-Play Master Controller
    * OPTi Plug-N-Play MPU-401
    * OPTi Plug-N-Play Sound System
    The device status for the "master controller" is "the CONFIGMG.VXD" device loader for this device could not load the device driver. (code2).
    The device status for "MPU-401" and "sound system" is the same, except refers to "MMDEVLDR.VXD".
    This is why I figured I needed to find an upgraded driver for Win98, but I have had no success finding one.
