I recently purchased a used ACER Aspire AM5640 Desktop (out of warranty)
that originally would not post and would freeze at the ACER screen. I got it to recognize the 250 Seagate SATA hard drive and the CD/DVR drive on setup.
It goes thru post and gets to the hard drive and stops. I took the hard drive out and ponied the drive to my laptop. It is recognize, formatted, and I can transfer files in and out. The drive was wiped clean of data when I got it. I put the Vista disk in the CD reader and it will load the start up for windows. Then it will ask for the drivers. I went to the ACER site downloaded the drivers for SATA and the processer, burned them to a CD and loaded them. Nothing happens ,they are not recognized by the Vista software. The Vista software keeps asking for location of the drivers. In the setup CMOS everything shows up and looks great. I may try and load windows Vista on the SATA by a third party device since I can't find a CD disk with those drivers. Any other suggestions? Thanks
