Upgrading Home premium to Ultimate..need help
I just purchased the Vista Ultimate DVD..i currently have Home premium installed on my laptop (Toshiba 2.2ghz..4gb ram..ATI 2600HD)
I have used Home premium for awhile and as such have some software, drivers, games and codecs installed on it along with music and other files..
I want to know if firstly I can use the DVD to do an upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate, and secondly on doing the upgrade will I still have my files and software & drivers installed?
Thanks much in advance..

i`ve never tried doing the upgrade that way, however Vista has an "anytime upgrade" that will let you upgrade in windows from an internet download for a lot less than what it would cost you for a retail DVD. Also, this methode would keep all your files and settings.

I believe it works just fine
Best way to test s in windows try the dvd and see what it tells you.
If it says Upgrade then I would say your files are safe.
This is all provided you have the 32 bit version of Ultimate and not the 64 bit

The above link explains the Vista version differences. As previously mentioned, it would be more cost effective to use the anytime upgrader.
