DB25 cable as scsi ?
Hello all :O)
Can I use serial/parallel db25 m/m connector cable in order to connect scsi scanner to a scsi card ? I just don't know if the internal wiring is the same. I'm not bothered by shielding and such, Since it's less than a 5 foot cable.
Thanks

Ok, its been a while but I am pretty positive I remember that the cables have the same ends but the internal wiring is not the same. Something to do with the DB25 cable is parallell and the SCSI cables are serial. Don't quote me on that but I am pretty sure the answer is no.

NP. I just remember "back in the day" when ZIP Drives were the hot item for large storage and them having flavors in SCSI and Parallell and even though they both had a 25 pin port the cables were not interchangeable. Same with Parrallel and SCSI scanners that used the 25pin set up.

Well, I guess a communication protocol IS a communication protocol....I thought they just decided to take more money for same cable by shielding it and renaming, So I've decided not to take it personally :O)

DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONAL - ITS JUST WORK!!!
For the subject take a look at the layout - if you have "good hands" you can manage to make yourself cables (SCSI cables are always a bit pricey... especially in Israel)

Thanks Gab,
I don't want to fiddle with soldering the cable and stuff, So I'll just wait for the right card\cable to fall into my hands....
