Hey.... I know this is an old thread but it was up on the hot topics on the site front page.
Kids of my son's age all ran bedroom server farms on NT 4 and W2K OSes of dubious provenance.
Kids of my daughters age all run Linux bedroom server farms.
Gosh. I wonder what changed?
Has MS finally realized that they may have lost 5 or 6 years of little techie gurus?

By they way, I just get certificate errors from the Dream Spark site.

It's something M$ has done in various guises in the past, it is a very good idea. If the kids can use the M$ product, then they are likely to buy it when the student era runs out... or at least work for someone who buys it.
The more talent you have with a particular product, the better the resulting products will be.

Heartily agreed. Good for kids. Good for MS.
