Also check the network card settings in device manager; specifically Power Management tab (if it exists) and make sure "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is unchecked.

Also had checked that as well. Client now has the laptop back so, even though it is not resolved, it is finished. Thanks all for the help.
It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!
