Alright now that theres that here is what ive tried
First off I was having completly unrelated issues and decided to reformat my computer and reinstall windows. After backing up my data, i installed.
YAY. However, upon booting i realized that i had lost my
Multimedia controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
Multimedia Video
Now im not worried about the other two. but the audio is a bit of a problem.
I have tried resolving the issue by first checking to make sure on board sound is enabled. (it is) Second booting into safe mode and installing drivers there. (to no avail) and finally posting here.
The issue at hand is odd and ive only found it in a couple of forums that didnt address my system.
I have reinstalled my chipset drivers 3 times to make sure i had the right versions. (I do) says Intel anyway.
When i uninstall my multimedia audio controller and restart my computer to install the correct Soundmax audio it says there are no drivers, reboot and start setup again.
However, while I am doing that (and yes i have uninstalled, searched and deleted realtek several times) windows tries to install realtek ac'97 for me, which you know gives me the BSOD.
So thats my problem XP PRO is misdetecting my audio driver as Realtek and after uninstall of realtek, it still won't let me tell it to install Soundmax.
Now short of searching forums about how to manually install Soundmax myself. (which im sure is hard) i wanted to post here get some sleep and come back to it in the morning. I dont know if another format will solve anything. Please help. Ive done about everything i can find and think of and it wont let me install soundmax. It has worked in the past, and i didnt even know realtek existed until now. Now of course i really dont like it.
Sorry this is so long but ive been at it for about 10 hrs straight to no avail.
thank you very much even if no one answers :-)

Welcome to Windrivers libertashavnproblems
Where were you getting the drivers from? all your drivers are here
But to add to complications, it depends which revision as to whether you use the ADI driver or the Analog devices driver...
Which have you been trying to install?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
