Asus X59 Serries Notebooks?
Does anybody have any familiarity with the Asus X59 series of notebooks?
Recommendations for/against?
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...32&modelmenu=2
Specifically:
ASUS X59SL-X2 - Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0Ghz, 250G, 3GB-DDR2, SUPERMULTI DVDRW 15.4"WXGA+, ATI HD3470 256MB, BT, wifi agn, CAMERA, 2 Yr. warranty #7632
I know nothing at all about Asus notebooks. Asus still provides XP drivers. The X59 series is listed with their business class models and has a two year warranty. On paper, this model seems to be a reasonably good deal.
Looking for a replacement for an ugly old Sony PIII 700, very very slooooow with W2K Pro.
Thanks.

Asus actually make their own laptops as well as laptops for others. I haven't seen that particular model, but I haven't heard anything bad bad about them.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

799 CAD (653 USD, 465 EUR, 446 GBP, 952 AUD).
Quite a nice looking and feeling unit.
It has Vista 32 Home Premium pre-installed (along with the requiste Norton Av and O2K7 trialware).
And... and ... and..... and .... it comes with recovery disks, a laptop mouse, a reasonalbly well constructed carrying case, some cable management straps, nice paper documentation, etc.
So far so good. I will leave Vista on and see how it goes.
