    Automated Backup

    How do you set up an automated backup in Vista Ultimate using the backup and restore centre?

    Vakas, you should note that the automatic backup is not a full drive image; it does selected files and folders. You need to do a full system backup manually to completely image your drive. Microsoft suggests you do this every six months or so. I suggest Microsoft needs to ship Vista with a more serious backup solution, though I have to say it's a huge improvement over their older software.

    If you ever have to restore your entire drive, your complete PC backup will restore your system state to the time it was created, but any files you've been backing up through automatic backup will require a second restore operation to recover them. Of course, any software or configuration changes since your last complete backup will have to be redone.
