Unknown Post Boot Error
I am at a standstill here. I have just purchased a computer that I knew was bad, but I was sure I could fix it. After a new video card (Nvidea GForce 4000, new RAM (2 DIMMs), a new Hard Drive (80 GB) and swapping everything I can, I still get this error when I try to boot it up.
When I turn it on, no display is emitted, and it does a continous hi-lo-hi-lo beep. I have seated and reseated the RAM, Video Card, and Processor (Cartrige-type Pentium 2). All conections are good, and I have tried resetting the CMOS. Anyone with any help, besides getting a new computer, would be greatly appreciated.

Motherboard, sound like one an error I had on an Intel board once, if it is what I think it is, the board isn't posting due to an motherboard controller fault. Do you know what model motherboard it is?

Or the chip could be partically bust. What's the CPU and do you have a spare you can try?

Intel Mod
The "siren" hee-haw beep code can be CPU overheat or incorrect voltage warning. If it happens instantly, check settings for CPU voltage, or if there is a temperature sensor that sticks up from the motherboard underneath the CPU cartridge, make sure it hasn't been broken.
Edit: Proteva show up as a very troublesome computer, many complaints with Consumer Affairs. Apparrently it was one of several names used by a manufacturer who produced shoddy products under one name until they got too bad a reputation, then shut that company down and started up again with a different name.

Update
I got a new motherboard. It was the logic bus. However, this board does not complete its post boot. I get no display. It just sits there like a giant electronic paperweight. I have replaced everything! could I have done something wrong?

My gut tells me you might want to doublecheck the new RAM compatibility...
Mobo manufacturers often have RAM recommendations which IMO are much more reliable than the memory sellers "compatibility" search tools you find online.

Boot "siren"
Hi all!
I'd like to add a little easy tip to solve the boot siren described.
I had this problem recently when I switched CPU fan. The fan was working but when checkin "health status" for the MB it couldn't detect fan tachometer. When I switched to another fan it worked all right!
When the MB cant detect a rotating fan, even if it's actually working, it will alarm.
Good luck!

Welcome to wd forums Gorm . Its nice to see folks opening their 'accounts' with contributions .
I'll add to what you just said, & note that some fans can't signal their speeds to the m/b & that might be a 'why', 'cheap' can often mean this feature isn't there, & also if you know you have a fan that can't report its speed, you might also turn the sensing option off in bios & rely on temperature cut out instead.

Thanks Confus-ed!
However I opened the account for selfish reasons
That was new to me, that you are able to disable the fan speed sensor on the MB...
It's always nice to learn more!
Thanks & see you!

Hi this has nothing to do with your computer problem. I have one of my own. bought a used Proteva computer and di not get a re-boot disk, I was just wondering if you have one, or could burn one for me. I would gladly pay you for it. Let me know.
Thank You,

Welcome to Windrivers robo327
Could you explain what you mean by a "re-boot disk" please?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
