Cool Very, VERY Strange (Aquiring IP Address)

I have been trying to set up a wireless connection to my wireless router (Netgear WGR614 v6).

With my old router (Linksys - standard model) i was easily able to connect. However here i have yet to establish a wireless connection. When i connect without a WPA i can connect to the network with excellent connectivity but cannot open any webpages or connect to the router. When i enable a WPA or WEP i simply cannot aquire a network address. I have tried setting up a static IP and can connect, though again a have no internet or connection to the routers IP Address.

When my i use ethernet i can connect easily.

When i configure my wireless card it says my driver is up to date and the card is working properly. Like i said, i have connected to several routers, but never this one. Please PLEASE help!

    Thank you!

Just wondering if the access control list has been enabled for some reason - can you check your router config by connecting through ethernet?

There are some troubleshooting tips here - you might have already tried them

May be you could also look at the router log through the ethernet when the wireless connection is trying to hook up - you might be able to find out the cause of the error.

yes, i can log onto the router through ehternet connection. i went through the suggested link information and had tried all that they had outlined.

"Just wondering if the access control list has been enabled for some reason - can you check your router config by connecting through ethernet?"
I can access the "Remote Management" feature and it said access is allowed for everyone.

"May be you could also look at the router log through the ethernet when the wireless connection is trying to hook up - you might be able to find out the cause of the error."
I looked at the attached devices log and mine never appeared while my computer attempted to connect.

Thank you very much for your help, its greatly appreciated. it is also worth noting that i can connect to this network with my laptop.

You might want to get hold of another laptop or a mobile with wifi, and see if that device is able to function normally with your router's wireless interface. Since you are able to connect when protection is off, and you are also able to browse through the ethernet interface, I am wondering if your router is at fault.

Orkiei6 what anti-virus/security/firewall software are you using?
Have you tried removing the current wireless connection and tried creating a new one?
What windows (and service pack) is this?
Often running the wireless network wizard will fix things too. Oh and remember the wep/wpa codes are case sensitive, so if you have capital letters as the wpa code, then you must use capital letters in windows.

Why don't you try disabling the security (wep wpa) first and try to
connect and get it working. Then after you have a connection and
it surfs the net then try enabling the security.

Did you recreate the wireless connection? They often get corrupted...
