acer travelmate 4021 wlmi ethernet driver

Hi there,
as the title says, I need the ethernet driver for this laptop. cant seem to get it off the acer website as the website aint playing ball.

I have had to do a clean install of OS and cant connect to the internet, anybody got the driver for it.... I think it is broadcom but not 100%

I also need the intel wireless utility I think?

The intel wireless utility is for the wireless card, you have a separate ethernet card...you don't need the wireless utitlity if you are running xp sp2 or sp3... infact the windows config is quicker at connecting, so I don't use it unless I have to.

The ftp site here is usually more productive. You have the lan4401 - which is the broadcom and the Lan5778 which might be an alternative configuration or newer version of the broadcom card...
Try the 4401 first.

edit: I usually download stuff like this to a Desktop folder then install from there.

Acer don't believe in wizards.

Download the file to a folder you can find easily. Unzip the folder. Now go to device manager and right click on the ethernet controller to update the driver, now browse to the folder in which the files where unzipped and find the xp folder. Windows will then install the driver for you.

something wrong here, just cant get the computer to connect to the internet.... am I missing other files?

Jimbo, perhaps you should explain exactly what happens when you try to connect? Also how are you connecting... modem, wireless, ethernet?

Connecting to a wireless router, sorted it now.... for some reason my setting's were not storing but all done now... thanks for all your help guys.

I have now put most of the acer drivers on a cd for next time

Good for you - did you note that you could get most of your comps downloads through that site?

Or is that what you meant?

Me, I would download and save to different folders on a CD ALL that they had.
