    Bad CPU or Memory?

Strange thing going on, when I test memory on this Dell 8300 with memscope it shows bad, so I put different ram in and it shows bad, I have done this with six stick's of ram of different brand that were pulled out of known running machines but all test bad. Could this be the CPU doing this? It locks up and at times won't start at all. Maybe even motherboard.

    I'd lean towards the motherboard.
One Script to rule them all.
    One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
    and clean up after itself.

Could easily be a bad memory slot or it could be a wiggly power supply,
    bad motherboard.
I would tend to say it isnt the cpu.

I did try another PS. I have also tried different slots. No bulging capacitors that I can see.

You should get, as you know, only one beep for Good board or something else for Bad board/component, BUT never No Beeps.

    Any light indications?

My wife has a Dell and it doesn't beep and I also have an HP with no beeps and both are fine but I know what you are saying..

The PC in question won't boot at all at this point. When I pull all ram it does have several beeps. I'm looking for a board for it right now to give it a try.

I am hearing impaired so I don't hear beeps regardless. LoL

I just thought they still all did.

Anyway, that boards info indicates it should, but Dell and others use generic data sometimes. The lights should be there though.

One stick in slot 2 no beeps but no matter where I put a known good stick the lights indicate bad memory. First two lights yellow and the second 2 lights green. All memory, including the memory that was bought with the machine work in other pc's.

Found something. There is one bulging capacitor next to the processor on the left with some rusty looking material on the top so it must be the board.

Just for fun, reset the bios. Then try the memtest again.

I tried that in the beginning and did get it to restart a couple times but it won't even boot at all now.
