quick answer - N router with B/G cards
Hello all -
I'm considering upgrading to a N router in my office. I currently have desktops/laptops with B or G cards.
Question - If I come along with a N card and put in one of these machines, and connect with the N router, will the B/G machines that are connected slow the router down (slow down the N connected PC), or is each connection with the router able to run at full speed?
Just curious if I need to upgrade all cards to N, or if I can go a few at a time and still get full performance from one or two N cards right now.
Thanks.

All connections should run at the speed of the individual WNICs. At least that's been the case with the Netgears and Linksys I've used.

My experience is the same as Slgriebs'.

If you have loads of connections, the entire network will slow though. Depends on how many connections the router can have.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Another caveat is that since the N standard still hasn't been officially adopted, almost anything can call itself an "N" router still. Sometimes even the Big Names guys like say, Netgear, have compatiblility problems with some WNICs, but most of those can be resolved by downloading new drivers for the WNICs
