Password Protected PDF Files between Mac & PC

Can a pdf be password protected by a Windows user and then opened by a Mac user who has Adobe Reader? What about the other way around?
Indeterminism. There's nothing you can do about it.

The password is embedded in the document just like any other formatting feature; so yes.
