exFAT file system driver for Windows XP

An XP exFAT filesystem driver update is available, enabling Windows XP systems to utilise the updated FAT-type filesystem introduced with Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and Vista SP1.

exFAT addresses several of the issues limiting the effectiveness of FAT32, such as filesize being limited to under 4GB, and poor efficiency with large volumes leading to an artificial cap of 32GB to volume sizes.

exFAT is designed to be more suitable than NTFS for removable media such as flash cards, and is the specified filesystem for the new SDXC cards:

    Brilliant! Thanks Platypus!
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
