Asus P5K - slow Sata operation
I came across this at Tech Support Forums - the Sata drive dropped to about 4MB/s from 75.
Turned out that secondary IDE was in PIO and disabling the secondary IDE allowed operation of the Sata port as normal.
I can't explain it - just thought the info useful to know.

OK, that's an interesting one to keep in the back of your mind! Thanks.
