IE Parental controls
Have a unique question. Have a client with parental controls in IE. Everything is blocked except the sites they have been given permission to. They want me to setup 2 new PC's the same way. Is there a file or something I can copy to the new PC's instead of sitting there, bringing up each site and giving permission, or is this a registry controlled item?
TIA
It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!

What versions of IE and what Windows?

Export/import
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Or use IEAK to deploy the settings (feasible if you want to deploy IE+settings on several machines)
How are you protecting the machines from bypassing restrictions using firefox?
You may want to look into setting permissions on the router...

So not parental controls... those are available on Vista... you mean Content Advisor... in theory you could copy the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies to the other machines and it would work.

Thanks for the correction NooNoo, it is content advisor. I will try the import of this registry key tomorrow and see if it works. Thank you.

Cannot set restictions on the router. It would cause problems for other PC's that need total access.

A cheapo wrt54g with dd-wrt firmware will do just fine, allows to set groups by ip/mac and apply various policies.
Pretty much any half-decent router will allow group-based filtering

Thanks NooNoo, the registry key did the trick. I made a copy of it so when there is a new PC installed, I can import it in and be ready to go.
