Question Dell Inspiron 1525 - RAM - Questions

Okay, I'm helping out someone, and they have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop that's running Vista Home Basic on 1GB of RAM, They say their computer is slow. I'm thinking that they could use more RAM on their system, and it might fix their speed problem.

Now, I pulled up the system configuration info, and discovered they are running off of 2 sticks of DDR2 PC2-5300 512MB. My questions are these:
    1. Is the RAM on an Inspiron 1525 replaceable without having to pay Dell to replace it?
    2. If they were willing to upgrade their RAM, what speeds of RAM can their computer handle?
    3. If the RAM is replaceable, how do I gain access to it?

And assuming that the RAM is replaceable and that I can access it...

    4. Got any recommendations as to what brands of RAM to get?

I would suggest going HERE, to get your RAM. You can put in the make, model of laptop or PC and get the correct RAM for it. The RAM is manufactured by Micron which most companies use and the prices are very reasonable. here is a replacement "How to" video for you. VIDEO
It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!

Vista, definitely needs 2gb ram, but the bigger problem might be the processor - what processor is in that thing?

The processor in their computer is an Intel Celeron running at 1.86GHz.

It's always going to be slow. 2GB ram is a necessity in this machine... also turn off the ability to switch user (as you end up with too many running processes) and turn off all the start up items. A celeron is much slower than the equivalent core duo.

I'll let them know that that's what I'll need to do to make it work.

    Thanks for all the help.
