A DNS error is an indication that the words you put in -eg www.windrivers.com are not translating to the ip address... (think of a phone book - you want to get hold of pcmatty and you dial a number). A DNS server is the internet phone book.

Now you might have old dns information on your computer so try start, all programs, accessories, command or cmd which opens a black window

    Type in

    ipconfig /flushdns
    press the enter key

This forces the computer to remove the old dns records and look up new ones at the nearest dns server - that of the one supplied by the ISP

If that doesn't work, it may be that the DNS server at the ISP is out of date and you can try entering a public dns server... post again if you want the instructions for that.

One question from me: Does this problem also show up on your parents computer?

Some routers have the ability to block certain sites. Has this been configured on your parents router?

pcmatty, you said "im next door to my parents pc who have mimo wireless router they are on virgin media broadband.

im using a belkin usb adptor to use to feed of the internet."

Are you using their internet connection?

edit: if so, there is this; http://www.dynamode.net/contact.asp

I would NOT recommend updating the parents' firmware unless they agree - a bad upgrade and the router could be toast.
