Weird Laptop Battery - VERY STRANGE - Can Someone Explain This?

Ok, something VERY strange is happening with my laptop battery. First off, I got a 4 year old Gateway laptop. Secondly, I bought a battery from BestBuy through eBay a month ago. For the first 2 weeks after buying it, the battery performed very well. After that, I couldn't charge the battery and it gave me a charge of 15 minutes left or 10%. I thought it was dead, I couldn't believe it. Then today (2 weeks later), the battery now reads 3 hours at 100% charge and works perfectly again. Can anyone explain this? Why did this happen?

The likely suspect is your DC jack.

Just Google this; Gateway laptop DC jack

Hi, CCT. Thanks for the reply. I got 2 questions for you.

    1) Do you think it's the DC jack? Well, I'm able to get enough power from the DC jack without the battery. So, I really don't know.

    2) Is there a way for me to connect to DC power without charging and removing my battery?

1: The battery charges through the DC jack. Sometimes yours charges, sometimes it doesn't.

    What does that tell you?

2: You are doing just that with the charger/adapter connected - you cannot NOT CHARGE if the battery is in and the adapter connected unless the DC jack is skewered.

CCT, you could be right. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks.
