The big question I have about MS Security Essentials is "Are they committed to keeping this freeware effective?" My guess would be that the answer is "No".
AV sites like Virus Bulletin and AV Comparatives have given both Live One Care and MS Forefront pretty high marks. The MS Malicious Software Removal Tool is extremely effective at dealing with the narrow range of nasties it targets as well.
On the other hand, let's look at Windows Defender. After Microsoft acquired the virtually unknown Giant Antispyware, they turned it into a very good antimalware tool. For a while. But when was the last time any of you pros actually bothered with Windows Defender? Even if it was running on a system you had to check, what did it block, detect, or remove?
