    Ms-chap v1

This may be an old issue as I believe it also affects Vista, but here goes.

I used to connect my XP loptop to a Cisco PIX 501 using PPTP protocol and MS-CHAP V1.

Microsoft in its infinate wisdom has removed MS-CHAP V1.

Is there a simple VPN client that I can download to give me back the simple PPTP connection I have lost. Dont want to get involved with L2PT.

All help, as always, greatly appreciated

I looked at the Cisco VPN client, it does not use the simple PPTP protocol, but needs an IPsec conection. This will be too difficult for our "Out of Office" Sales guys to set up.

PPTP protocol "WAS" very easy to set up in WinXP

    Microsoft Strikes again.

Looking on the internet I have noticed that I am not alone in finding the loss of MS_CHAP V1 very anoying, and would have thought some one would have developed a simple program by now.

This Cisco article is clear on what OS's can use IPsec/PPTP with Cisco systems; http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk58...80094e6d.shtml

This site makes reference to using PPTP with Vista; http://www.errorforum.com/microsoft-...ver-vista.html

There are others mentioning using PPTP with W7.

So it seems it can be done.
