Maxtor 3200 XP code 10 error
Thanks for any help,
Today when I tried to open a file from my external Maxtor 3200 HD I found that My Computer no longer had an icon for it. I also could not find the HD on the device manager. After unplugging the USB cord a couple of times and restarting the computer, I still had no icon for the HD. I unplugged and replugged the HD and still no icon, but it did show up in device manager - but it showed the: This device cannot start. (Code 10) message. I googled code 10 and tried uninstalling/reinstalling driver as well as uninstalling turning off computer and hoping it would install on restart. The message I received was the current driver was all I needed and still no icon. Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to Windrivers, Romodo! The best place to start would be by reading this sticky.

Not always but sometimes it is the controller board in the external case which goes. The files are all still intact on the drive. If you don't have any success with the above USB sticky, and the warranty period is over you can likely remove the harddrive from the case and connect it manually into a pc.

A number of people complained it was a bad power supply - http://www.fixya.com/support/t238517...rsonal_storage
Whether that is your issue or not, I don't know.
