    Question Problem in HL-DT-ST DvD-Rom GDR8163B

    Good Day

    kindly note that i have a problem in my CD-Rom and DVD

    1. Type : HL-DT-ST DvD-Rom GDR8163B
    2. Windows : XP


    The problem summary

    • The DVD didn't read all types of CD's
    • The DVD some time read the CD and in the other time didn't read while the CD is normal in the other pc's
    • The DVD didn't read any copied CD even if is new copy



    so i need your urgent assist to know how i can solve this problem

    Welcome to Windrivers Alifathi

    Have you tried getting a dvd lens cleaner?
    Is it only CDs that will not read or is the problem with DVDs as well?
    Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

    Really i didn't try to bring or use dvd lens cleaner but if this soluation i will buy it and test it

    about the problem it is related only for CD's becasue i didn't try to test DVD because all my data on CD

    so if the above tool will be the soluation , just confirm on me to start testing

    You need to test a DVD as well.
    The drive has two lasers, one for reading CDs and one for reading DVDs. If the DVDs work the next test you try is to get a bootable CD and try and boot your computer from it.

    Does the drive burn CDs ok?

    Does the drive show up in my computer?

    Does the drive show up in disk management?

    If the drive burns cds ok, then clean the lens.
    Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

    You might also want to check what firmware version you have and, if no other course of action helps, flash to the latest.
