Mapping A Drive On Our Company Network

I am having issues mapping additional drives on my PC on our compamy's network. I have no problems mapping these drives with the syntax below:

    C:\Documents and Settings\jfarrar>net use X: "\\joywin05fps\shared\data3\Indeng\Jeff Farrar”
where "Jeff Farrar" is my personal version of "My Documents".

My problem is mapping to subfolders within this folder such as:

    C:\Documents and Settings\jfarrar>net use Y: "\\joywin05fps\shared\data3\Indeng\Jeff Farrar\Efficiency

I thought it might be an issue with being able to map to sub folders BUT I can map to sub folders in other empoyee's main folders with no probelm.

I have checked my current mapped drives and I am not trying to map to an already mapped drive so I know that is not the problem.

    The message I receive is:
"System error 53: the network path was not found"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You,

    Jeff

Make a (temporary) set of folders under data3\Indeng as JeffFarrar\Efficiency (folder JeffFarrar has no blank) and try the command line.

    net use Y: "\\joywin05fps\shared\data3\Indeng\JeffFarrar\Effi ciency”

edit: I don't know why a space is showing in Efficiency but I didn't our it there

Here is a copy/paste of the cmd lines:
    Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
    (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

    C:\Documents and Settings\jfarrar>net use X: "\\joywin05fps\shared\data3\Indeng\Jeff Farrar"
    System error 85 has occurred.

The local device name is already in use. My current mapping

    C:\Documents and Settings\jfarrar>net use Y: "\\joywin05fps\shared\data3\Indeng\Jeff Farrar\Efficiency" Where I have tried to map to
    System error 59 has occurred.

    An unexpected network error occurred.

    C:\Documents and Settings\jfarrar>net use Y: "\\joywin05fps\shared\data3\Indeng\JeffFarrar\Effi ciency"As you suggested
    System error 53 has occurred.

The network path was not found.

C:\Documents and Settings\jfarrar>net use Y: "\\joywin05fps\shared\data3\Indeng\Jim Harris\dnc" I WAS able to map this earlier today BUT now receive the error message
    System error 53 has occurred.

The network path was not found.

Thanks for your help....don't waste too much time looking at this as it's not that big of an issue BUT these types of things just bug thr ##@@&^ out of me. I guess I am just borderline OCD.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

NOTE: I copied the wrong line on the syntax you suggested. I DID remove the space in Efficiency.

    C:\Documents and Settings\jfarrar>net use Y: "\\joywin05fps\shared\data3\Indeng\Jeff Farrar\Efficiency”

I think you still have a space between Jeff and Farrar, which I suggested you remove.

This means releasimg the net use and then renaming the folder without the space.
