Looking for Wireless Access Point Utils For XP

We have several different models of laptops and are using Windows XP on all of them. We have to strictly use the built in Windows Wireless Networking and disable or uninstall any driver manufacturer wireless utilities in order for them to work on our network.

Now the question. Is there a built in Windows Wireless utility or even a third party program that could be run to get the Access Point MAC address and possibly other information that laptops are connected to, without needing the manufacturers driver utility? We use several different manufacturer laptops so one utility that works on all makes and models is ideal.

Well I found the answer if you have Vista or newer:

    netsh wlan show interface

on the command line gives the information I need. Now I just need to find a way to do the same on XP. Copying the netsh.exe to XP did not work, not that I expected it to.

I am not sure what info you want but a Start, Run, cmd /k, ipconfig /all >C:/ipconfig.txt will get you a pretty all-inclusive report.

You can make a batch file for that.

Thanks for the reply but that command only gives information on the network-wireless cards in the local system and the laptops own MAC address.

I'm looking for a way to get information on what wireless networks XP laptops are connected to, especially the Access Point's MAC address.

If using a router, just contact it.
