The limits to human performance are largely psychological. An 8-year-old's brain is developing, forming synapses a mile a minute - leaning, learning, learning - absorbing through osmosis. He doesn't have an imposed preconception of what is difficult or what is impossible. Hendrix, SRV, Satriani, etc. just are. They exist. They are not impossible. They are not difficult. They are rather just benchmarks of what is possible - what is normal - part of the landscape of normality. When you have innate talent and when the technical wizards of your instrument are cool to you but not intimidating (because you don't know any better), you start in innocence with no imposed sense of limitation -- you are just doing something that is fun and your instrument is like a magnet to which you are inexplicably drawn to the point where it seems like part of your body, another voice, one through which you speak this other language, music, you are learning along side English -- exceeding the normality of the technical wizard guitar gods just happens.
