Preview of Windows 9.5 on Netbook

Wow .... I just got a new netbook, an HP Omnibook 800CT with Windows 9.5 on it.

800 CT Netbook (not my netbook here)

I have to say Windows 9.5 is so cool. The netbook has 16 Mb of RAM and a 133 MHz processor, but it starts up and presents a desktop so unbelievably fast. The Windows 9.5 Explorer interface has a stripped down, functional kind of feel. It is very easy to find your way around and perform all basic tasks very, very quickly. All in all, Windows 9.5 seems very familiar - it has such an intuitive feel that you are certain that you have used it before - deja vu, man, deja vu!

I got given one of these in Feb.

A company found a bunch of them in a store room. They had never been used. They gave them to employees.

One of the employees gave one to me after having had it sit around for a couple of years.

The battery no longer holds a charge. There is no SCSI CDROM or docking station for it, but there is the original floppy unit and a 3rd party parallel burner for it.

I love the mechanical arm mouse - what a bizarre piece of engineering.

And the unit is tiny, about the size of a netbook, maybe just a little bit bigger.

    Retro-sweet!
