Faulty and choppy sound and ? sm bus controller

hey I decided to scan with everything got... hopefully this helps a little... :-/ i didnt get too many viruses so it didnt seem so bad

What program did you scan with for viruses?
What program did you use to scan for Malware/Spyware?
Did you scan for rootkits?
Did you shut off System Restore when you scanned?
It only takes 1 infection to trash a system completely

ok as you can see on my program list i have 4 scanners(eset, ad aware, malwarebytes, and spybot. i scanne with all , that means malware, spyware, ad ware.But idk what rootkits are. And no why do i have to turn off system retore? do i have to turn it off then scan again??????? anyway like i said i need to boot to bios the easiest thing in the world can you help me with that, blah blah info blah blah(really didnt like my attitude there:-/) . thanx again

Contrary to your beliefs he is giving you information. The problem is you're choosing what information to accept. Disabling the restore makes it so the infection can not exploit the recovery files to resurrect itself. Furthermore rootkits can hide from Virus and Malware Scanners. You should try using a rootkit detection tool such as GMER though there are other rook kit detection tools to choose from.

Indeed Niclo is correct. Your system restore is the primary place that malware viruses and other assorted crapware hide.
Frankly what key gets you to the bios is not only a case of finding out the right key,it's also the ability to be able to hit it at the right moment.
I don"t hide information. There is an order to repairing, rather then stumbbeling around trying stuff randomly.
having those types of programs tells me a lot about what the computer does on a regular basis , and there fore what the right way to begin fixing the mess is.
I cannot be certain removing all of the viruses and such will correct the smbus installation problem but certainly you cannot proceed while there is infection and problems.
Any scan is allways best doing the "Full Scan"

Hey i turned off system restore and did the full scans once again to make sure i got it all and there was some so u were right.... and I also ran the Rootkit revealer and there was 8 entries but i couldnt save the text file :-/ oh and when you said "it's also the ability to be able to hit it at the right moment. " how do i go about it? I tried a lot im not sure what im doing wrong.... im sorry i can do all that but not this simple task. Anyway thats not the point ... what should i do next? thank you in advance and for what you've done. I dont want you guys to feel unappreciated you guys work very hard. Believe it or not I atually love computers and helping... wish i could be as good as u guys

Ok I pressed F2 during the post (Which is a big Acer logo which says 'press f2 to enter setup press f12 to change boot order') and got the insydeH20 Setup Utility Rev3.5 .
It has 5 tabs Information, Main, Security, Boot, and Exit. and when i press esc a black screen comes up for a split second and says this, (i used the pause button to see it) "Insyde h20 efi2.0 nb copyright 19xx-2007 insyde h20 technologys ltd. System bois version v1.13 bios build date 01/19/2010 system memory speed 533 mhz processor type intel atom cpu n270 @ 1 .60 ghz press f2 to enter setup press f12 to change boot order". I tried to press f2 on this window and i get the insydeH20 Setup Utility again. I also tired f2 during a pause and it goes straight to xp :-/ Im pretty much out of ideas. Is there anyway to turn off the on board audio while in xp instead of the bios menu? or maybe this certain laptop doesent have a bios menu?

Well in the meantime i tried to install the smbus again but still no success. Maybe I shoulld reinstall windows again and start with installing the sm bus? (just an idea) Because I know that booting to bios just might not be an option :-/

Nope the only thing you can do is disable it in XP which does nothing at all.
When you pressed F2 and got the window to go to

If you enter Main what is in there?

Doesnt look like shutting off sound is avaliable.
So the best thing is do a restore from the restore key at boot
Here is the standard Acer Recovery Instructions

1. Power on the machine
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the “Alt” key and press the “F10” key simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click “Restore to Factory Default Settings”
4. Click “OK” to continue
5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
6. Once eRecovery has run, press “OK” to reboot unit

Ok but before i do i have one question will windows still be accessable? or will i have to install an OS again? Just wondering....
