Dell Studio 1737 XP Video Driver

I have tried just about everything out there for the video and I have had no luck. This computer came in with a pirated copy of XP Pro on it (suppose to be vista but they can't use vista) and it had all the drivers and worked but for some reason I cannot find the driver for it to work. It's the Mobel Intel (R) 4 Express Chipset and I have went to the intel site and ran there utility and it says there is a problem discovering something and any other driver I find there either installs and don't work or tells me it's not compatible with this laptop. Ideas?

Googling finds a few references offering 1535/1537 Intel drivers that they claim should do for the 1737, have you tried any of them?

It's definitely one with the Intel video, not the ATI?

Yes I downloaded a whole package they had and it says it installs but no go. I'm wondering since I have tried so many different drivers that maybe I need to just format it again because one driver is interfering with the other. I will try that tomorrow.

That sounds reasonable. You could try stripping out all the phantom installations in Safe Mode?

Being that it's a pirated copy I doubt we can give too much advice until they go legitimate. Furthermore hacked/pirated anything is going to be problematic since we have no idea of what the publishers of the counterfeit did to the product once they got their hands on it. Go with a legitimate installation and you'll probably have a bit more luck.
One Script to rule them all.
    One Script to find them.
One Script to bring them all,
    and clean up after itself.

Failed to mention that is what I was doing for them, legitimizing it that is. Only way to do it was to format the whole thing and use a legit key. Anyway I was right, after trying so many different drivers it was seeing the correct ones as a incorrect version for the OS it seen as I had on the laptop according to the driver that was installed. In short I installed the Vista chipset drivers which installed but wouldn't work and then when I went to intel to us there update utility it seen the Vista driver so the XP one wouldn't install. All is well now and thanks for the input as always.
