2 Simple Questions About USB Flash Drives
I got a 2 part question relating to usb flash drives:
1) Is a copy-to-usb speed of 16MB/sec a good standard speed for a 64GB usb flash drive?
2) What usb flash drives do you recommend that have fast copy-to and copy-from speeds?

16M/s is good.
Personally I look for capacity/dollar, write speeds are less important as I don't run a database from the stick. I am more concerned with reliability...

ceebee, will reformatting a flash drive to ntfs make it read/write faster than fat 32?

No, if anything it will be slower. Plus incompatible with older operating systems or *nix based.

understood... i was looking at buying the Patriot Xporter XT Rage 64 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive. From reviews, its pretty fast - 25-30MB/s copto-to and copy-from speeds. Its listed as $120 on amazon. Do you think this is a worth-while purschase?

Only if you *NEED* the 64GB. For example I am fine with a $10 4GB drive and I have space left on it. I wouldn't pay $30 for a 32GB drive because I don't *need* one (I don't have that much data that needs to be on my keychain). For general storage/backup a 1TB external drive is a way better option for less money. YMMV.
