Core I5 onboard graphics question
I had a client's computer with an intel motherboard and Core I5 cpu.
It has a dedicated GT240 vga card, and when i tried to take out the card and connect the lcd to the onboard vga connector, It gave me no picture, just a black screen and some beeps.
I noticed that some of the I5 core cpu dont have Intel HD Graphics. Might that be the reason it only worked with the GT240 and not with the onboard VGA ?

Unlikely.
I would suggest putting the card back in and booting to bios and selecting the onboard as the primary video. Then try rebooting and removing the addin card.

i tried that.there was AUTO or pci express card as primary vga and both didnt worked when the GT240 was out, it about 4 monthes old system so i guess it's one of the former i5 models, dont remember which

Well...According to this post, Some quad core intel cpus don't have a gpu and there I was right in my assumption :
