    SSD Reliability

Tom's Hardware has a nice article on this topic here. What I like best, it that it also addresses the question of conventional hard drive failure more realistically than manufacturer's statistics. Over the last year or two, there has been an increasing realization in the tech press that hard drive failure is much more common than most users think, and that all levels of RAID fail far more often than conventional wisdom says.

Anyway, folks still sitting on the fence about buying a SSD for their own use, or concerned about selling them need to read this. I would also suggest Ed Bott's recent article on the topic

Great reading. I'll have to check to see if there are any firmware updates for my 2 new SSD's that were supposed to be delivered yesterday.

Totally validates what i said the other day about a good SSD and Acronis.
As you can see by my sig, I used an Adata. They have a darn good reputation in
memory circles and usb memory sticks. I installed with no issues and so far all is well.
I do image daily to a 1 TB seagate sata 3. My data drive

Woot! My two drives were delivered an hour ago! Hope the U.P.S. guy didn't leave them on the porch. On second thought, it would be no biggie. None of my neighbors seem to know how to do anything other than download trojans, viruses, and malware regularly.

    True dat!
Got the drives in, synchronized, and loaded with 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate. Speeds are good, but not as breathtaking as I expected. Just for jollies I'll pull one of the drives and see if it makes a difference in speed. I'll prolly end up buying a PCI-e Raid card just to get decent speeds.

I did switch it to ACHI, but I think the fact that I am mirroring the raid is slowing it down to boring speeds.
