I have a friend who has a system which came with a AMD Athlon 64x2 and is upgrading the cpu to AMD Phenom II x4 and wants to know if he is going to need to reinstall his Win7, a question I couldn't immediately answer...

Prolly not. I have done this twice now, once I had to re-activate Win 7 Pro and once I didn't with Win 7 Ultimate. You should be okay , but backup your data just to be sure!

I agree with Guts.
The worst case scenario is a re-activation.
I haven't actually had a re-activation call when
changing the processor and i have done a number of them.

AMD Phenom II Processors are really amazing, as they are smoother and faster. It conserves PC power with it's high technology. It doesn't make much sound even like other processors.
The processor also prevent the spread of certain viruses and strengthen the network integrity, which makes it the best.
