    update failure KB 911895

+I recently had to replace my cordless mouse, and when I replaced it with another cordless mouse the comp said "new hardware detected, New hardware installed , new hardware is ready to use". However, after I restarted my Comp. A screen popped up
"Welcome to the new found Hardware wizard."
And when I click the install hard ware automatically, it searches and finds an update
" HID non user input data filter (KB 911895)" which it tries to instal and then reports
" an error incurred during installation, a fatal error incurred during installation"

And then "your new device may not work properly."

In checking the "review your update history", I noticed that thissame update had failed to install multiple (many) times. How can I fix this problem. I
I run "AVG internet security" and wonder if perhaps my firewall could have an effect.
I tried replacing the mouse with several others, with the same result.
My mouse seems to work okay.

You can try this as it seems to pertain to that KB issue.

hi Ferrit, tried your solution, no difference, same problem KB 911895 will not install. The error code I get is ox80070643. by the way, the wdf01000.sys file is in the c:\windows\system32\drivers\ file not the c:\windows\system\file.
    Any other suggestions
BTW my mouse problem seems to ave been resolved, but the KB 911895 will still not install and it keeps saying it is ready to install

Sounds like you may be having more than just a minor problem there. First thing I would do is a malware scan with malwarebytes. Once we confirm the pc is clear of malware follow up with a virus scan for good measure. If all of that still doesn't improve the system and the installs let us know so we can give you the next set of troubleshooting steps.

did a complete malware scan and remove any malware found. did a complete virus scan no problems. tried to install KB 911895, no soap. problem still unresolved.
I'd like to point out that 4 other updates installed no problem, just this one update is causing all the problem

According to what I have read HERE this update was issued back in 2009 as a correction for the screen saver if it quit working. Also it mentions there is no information on this paticular update. Personaly if there is nothing broke, I would mark it as not to install and then you won't be bothered with the update again.
It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!

thanks every one for the help, everything seems to be working fine, so I have just marked this update as do not install, and hope that this will end the continuous hassle.
