Laptop Boots Up By Itself - Strange
ok this is goinna sound weird. on my laptop with xp, whenever i plug in the power adapter, the laptop boots up without me pressing the power button. how do i make this stop?

Check for an AC power loss option in the BIOS/CMOS Setup. Set it to remain off when power is restored.

Also check that the actual power button isnt sticking as well

well, the power button isnt even connected.. lol. you replied in my other thread about the ribbon cable that i need to coonnect to the power button.

Well it could easily be 2 different laptops.
I wonder then if having the ribbon cable removed
may be the reason or that it is damaged.

Are you stating that your power button is not connected? The circuitry of a few items that need complete circuit like a tank circuit, It may be possible your circuit is closed even though it is not physically showing. that is possible why you power up
Last thing I remember, running for the door,
I had to find the passage back to the place
I was before.

no, the reason i'm able to power up without a power button connection is that i think the bios settings isnt set up right. but its a mixed blessing in disguise since the only way to power up my laptop now is by connecting my power cord. as soon as that happens, i power up automatically until i find a ribbon cable.

if i did that, i wont be able to "power up" my laptop until i get a cable ribbon.

to be honest, i dont think i will.. becuz if my computer breaks down again, this could be the only way to powering it on.
