Error 5 from Antivirus - Please Help!!!

i got xp pro sp3. after installing the free version of avast antivrus, i found that it was disabled. i found that the service was not running. when i try to start it, i get this error:

"could not start avast antivirus service on local computer error 5 access is denied"

i also get the following error when i try to start the service in safe mode:
"error 1068: the dependency service or group failed to start."

i tried using avast's special uninstall utlility to uninstall completely. but that didnt work. what do i do to fix this??

I would suggest running combofix and malwarebytes as it sounds like you have a virus infection.

i already ran malwarebytes and theres no virus found.

Run combo fix. Uninstall and reinstall avaat
