I got this fujitsu ah530gfx core i3-370 laptop that his cpu reaches 90deg C and shuts off.
I opened it and applied arctic silver 5 thermal paste on it's cpu and gpu, but it still behaves so (shuts off when it arrives to 90 deg).
Idle temp under win7 home x64 is around 60-63 deg.
It seems that copper part near the cpu gets hot - which means thermal paste applied well in my opinion, but for some reason heat does not evaporates as expected.
I would appreciate suggestions.
Update : I applied more paste than I usually apply at the center of the 2 cpu cores (about 1mm high) and then screwed the plates back, following 1-4 numbers (1 and 2 are diagonally) and now it seems to run quite cooler (around 48-55 idle). I'm running prime 95 overnight to see how it deals with excessive heat.
The thing is with this laptop that he lowers cpu speed when he's getting closer to 90DEG C to something like 931mhz.......Seems to me like a cooling design flaw....This issue is written also in this review :
" the Core i3-370M and Radeon HD 550v were already located at about 60°C in idle mode - below 50°C would be normal here. The next unpleasant surprise followed during our full load test (Furmark + Prime). As soon as the processor exceeded a temperature of over 90°C, it clocked down for a certain amount of time to a meager 1.33 GHz (CPU throttling). Fortunately, there were no irregularities during our application and gaming benchmarks. In fact a full load situation is never achieved in routine use."
Well....it didn't go that well....Cpu still overheating...
Ordered a P6200 cpu which MIGHT be compatible with this laptop from ebay and will test it when it arrives.
The p6200 has lower clock speed, So I hope it won't get to the 90DEG C area temps.....I suspect that it also might be the cpu, So I'll know after I'll install the new one.
Yes, silent and normal modes and it's on normal.
Except for that option. There is no HW monitor at all in this BIOS.
i updated the bios and it is a very basic one.
Managed to attach a back plate of a scyth cpu cooler to existing laptop heatsink, Because the P6200 cpu i've installed also had high temps.
Ran prime95 for an hour and the computer does not shut down, Although he lowers cpu clock to 931mhz when temp start to reach close to 90C while instantly reduces temp to around 80C
