I ran into a few with the Foxconn motherboards being sold by PCClub called Enpowers. I actually have 2 of them in my lab.
It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!

HP provides a recovery solution on a separate area of the hard drive in that model. As long as the hard drive is still functional, you can do a recovery by turning on the computer and then repeatedly tapping the [F11] key until "Windows is loading files..." displays on the screen.

When the computer is booting up i tap f11, and the screen says recovery, but then the screen goes dark and then ubuntu starts up. I can get to setup and i can access Bios the boot process is already set to boot from the dvd drive. I am starting to think that whoever installed ubuntu must have destroyed the recovery partition and wipeout all the windows O/S and drivers. i would hate to have to take this computer to a repair shop, because i got a really good price for it.

I agree. Sounds like the drive was wiped or replaced.

If it still has the Windows Product Key sticker on it, you might try borrowing a DVD of the same exact version and re-installing Windows. Looks like the drivers are still available on HP.com.

Or just order the recovery media from HP. It's not that much money, and it ships quick.

I talked to some guy at hp, and he told me that they do not make recovery media for this model.
Maybe he was new, because he kept putting me on hold while he checked. I will try the hp web site.

Recovery media is available from HP for the 200 series.

The 400 series has a recovery partition on the hard drive.
