Exclamation Recover an Encrypted Drive (Raw to NTFS without Formatting)

I have an external hard drive what I use to store personal financial documents like old tax returns etc., as well as other personal files like family pictures and honeymoon pictures and other irreplaceable files. I really just encrypted the drive for the heck of it and never had any problems with it. I used TrueCrypt to encrypt it and also used it to mount it and access the files. One day I went to mount the device and at first it wasn't recognized as a TrueCrypt device. I restored the header from backup and I am now able to mount the device. The problem now is that it seems that the file system has somehow changed to RAW instead of NTFS. Is there any way of restoring the file system to NTFS without having to reformat, or ar least recovering the data that is on it. Any help would be appreciated.

It's not the computers that keep having problems, it's the users!!

Usually when a TrueCrypt drive has issues it's hosed and cannot be recovered.
And being an external drive I'd assume you use it as a backup device - in which case why not simply format and copy over the files from your computer? I really hope that your "irreplaceable files" exist in more than one place...
