    Power

I have a lap top which is my step niece and no power to start it up. You can plug it in and push button and nothing happens. It is a Dell so you can turn it over and look at progress bar on battery and nothing is showing. Pulled battery out and tried still no power up by using power plug. Checked plug it has 19.5 volts which shows on power pack. I downloaded service manual and disassembled down to mother board. Removed it from case and used power plug and plugged it in. I have 19.5 volts on board. ( I first suspected bad plug, On this board it is the whole mother board not like some Hp`s which has a smaller board to hook to mother board.) Processor fan was a little cruddy with lint and cigarette tar. I have a person that disagrees with my Diagnosis say`s it might be ram that is keeping it off. Oh I said Mother board is toast. I checked with google found mother board on Ebay, and a lot of them Some for sale that wont power up but battery will operate it. HOW do you charge battery??

A real common problem with laptops is that the power plug to the mobo breaks connection. Sometimes you can resolder the connection - other times you have to replace the mobo.

Yes sir that is why I took it down to mother board to look at plug and check with meter, board is getting power.
