    Windows 7 Gateway

greetings A computer that has windows 7. Really good friend of mine bought his son this computer. The son had massive heart attack later in life of computer. He bought a new disk of windows to wipe it clean to obtain computer for his wife. I tried to wipe it clean it is a Tara byte harddrive with 3 partitions. Windows cannot do anything with partitions. No floppy drive so I can load program to write zero`s any suggestions?
Last thing I remember, running for the door,
I had to find the passage back to the place
    I was before.

Note that it's a heck of lot faster with the hard drive connected directly to the motherboard. USB 2.0 can be agonizingly s-l-o-w.

You could have loaded any number of different harddrive programs onto a bootable cd made from an iso and just
booted from the cd drive without ever removeing anything

If you boot from the new install cd you should be able to delete any existing partitions then format and install the new OS.

You could also use either Dban or Hiren's CD/DVD bootable disk erasers.

I used gparted and burned to an iso. Deleted all partitions on boot up. When I inserted windows dvd it came up set up first screen, than repair or new install, next screen showed partitions three of them went to advanced tab and found NEW clicked it and windows deleted and installed one of it`s own partitions Then there is a progress line 0% was like that for a few minutes than started to accelerate a bit until 100% after that it was enter, enter, restart etc. All is good went to Gateway website downloaded all chips and drivers.
