Resolved [RESOLVED] SD card reader looks for SD card on when waking up from sleep

    Hi,

So I've installed Windows 10 on a Sony VGN-FW180D and I got this weird problem and I hope someone can help. When the computer wakes up from sleep a file explorer window opens up looking for an SD card in the SD card reader and since it can't find any I get the "Please insert a disk into removable disk" or something like that. It does not happen the computer hibernates, well actually it only happened once.

Also if I leave an SD card in the reader when it wakes up I don't get the message. I didnt try Windows 7 and I don't know if tit occured with Vista which was installed before on the hard drive that failed.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you so much

Did you perform all the necessary steps prior to the upgrade to Windows 10 ?

I know they don't support it but I still went ahead with the installation.

I applied the november windows update which re-installs windows and the problem went away. Did microsoft fix the problem? Was it just a problem during the installation? I'll never know.

    Thank you

    A couple of points:

1 - Sony said that although they were NOT issuing drivers for your model they felt Windows 10 might well have all the drivers necessary.

2 - The Windows 10 November update did NOT reinstall the system - it was a large 3 GB update though and the inclusions are probably what 'fixed' your issue.

I saw someone having the same problem on Windows Vista years ago.

Thanks for the attempt to help/mock me.

I did NOT attempt to 'mock' you. Saying they don't support Windows 10 merely means that they aren't developing their own drivers and they aren't investigating whether Windows 10 has the drivers you need.

Every Windows upgrade has had these issue.
