    Post analog devices

    Intel motherboard d815eea
    integrated audio by analog devices
    chipset adi 1885.
    System working within win98se ok.
    When playing tobm raider midi files play but
    wav files do not.
    I think I need dos drivers for this chipset
    tomb iops a dos game right?
    Anyone got ideas or can help?

    Make sure your sound settings are ok in windows device manager. Write down legacy sound settings. IRQ, address, dma. If there is no legacy sound support, this option may be disabled in bios. also reserve irq 5 in PnP/PCI config. I think tomb raider has a setup program to change settings. You'll have to change irq, address in the game to match those in device manager.

    The chipset on that MB uses SB128Pci. Follow the SB setup info.

    My first suggestion is to uninstall Tomb Raider and get a real game with real female characters.

    Here's a trick... this is only for DOS games that try to grab the IRQ automatically from the BLASTER environment...

    If your sound card is using IRQ higher than 9, you can still assign a 1-digit IRQ in the BLASTER environment... Some DOS games will not like a 2-digit IRQ (I10 or I11) but will be OK if you use Hexadecimal (because, as you know, IRQs are just a one-digit Hex number anyway). So, instead of IRQ10, you are actually using IRQ A. Here's a list if you don't get what I mean...

    I had to figure this out when my Blood and Magic game wouldn't work 5 years ago. Hope this helps someone.

    One thing that I have seen before is that a game without an option of IRQ settings will a lot of times have a default IRQ of 5 for the sound card. You may want to ensure that your sound card is set to this.
