Post problems with Geforce 2 mx.

Now I'm pretty sure that it's an IRQ-problem, but I can't change it.
When in bios, the card Irq "pairs up" with the soundcard(onboard), and the SMBus.
I just can't give them different Irqs.
I have tried to disable the sound-card in Bios, but I can't find out how.

And now I've got an other problem.
After an restart I got these weird colours (16 colors,640 480), and when checking the system information, I found that the
memory-resource the Geforce is trying to use is occupeid by the acpi-bios, whatever that might be.
Do I have to disable this, and what will happen if I do?

What motherboard and what OS are you using?

Your best bet would be to disable ACPI in the BIOS. It's usually under Power Management settings. If your BIOS doesn't allow you disable it, then you can do it through the OS, but I really need to know what OS you're using to tell you how to do it.

About my OS, it is win 98,
and the motherboard is a Compaq 0588h.
I couldnt disable the Acpi from Bios, and i didn't find anything about the
Plug n Play Os setting either.

you definetly want to disable ACPI.. I have the same card.. but for the sound card you r going to pretty much have to disable it and get like a soundblaster or something. Onboard sound loves to share irq with agp card

Actually it's a PCI-card, but that doesn't make it better.
I'm thinking of buying a new soundcard soon, but what can I do about my Geforce sharing Irq with the SMBus?

How to disable ACPI in win98?

To disable ACPI in Win98, right click on My Computer and go to properties. Click the device manager tab, then double click System Devices. You'll see PCI Bus listed in there, double click that. Click the IRQ steering tab. Uncheck "Get IRQ Table using ACPI Bios". After you've hit okay, it'll reboot, and probably redetect all the hardware in the machine.
