I'm trying to get a floppy (3.5) to work in a new computer (no OS on HDD). Everytime it starts i get floppy disk fail error 40. What is this?!?!? How do I fix it?
If the light stays on constantly after powerup, the floppy cable is on the wrong way round (I'm always doing this).
I think pin one (the side of the cable with the red dots/line) usually goes towards the metalic cylinder doohicky. Or towards the middle of the drive.... That would explain why I'm always doing it I suppose.
Check Bios and see if "A" is disabled and "B" is enabled? providing you checked what the others have stated!

I use The best program that cures Windows problems, Far more reliable than Norton Utilities, It's called FORMAT C:...® [I hate AT&T@home cable service]
