Used to be able to burn cds, not anymore. Why?
Today I tried burning a CD-R cd and WMP won't let me. It says I have to connect the burner and restart the computer but I dunno how.
My Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A200-AH9. I downloaded all the drivers and even used Toshiba's disk creator program and it says to insert a CD-R cd and it already is in the drive. I tried to take it out and back in and still the same problem persists.
The drives I can see in My Computer are C: and DVD Drive (E . It's like my laptop isn't recognizing the burner anymore. I've used it before, I know for sure, and I've used the exact same CDs before.
Can anyone help?
P.S. this is my first post on this forum glad to be here.

The below information was at a yahoo answer question link.
1. Right click My Computer
2. Choose Manage.
3. Choose Services and Applications >> Services.
4. Scroll down to the "IMAPI service".
5. Double click on it and choose "Automatic" from the drop down list.
6. And then, start the service by clicking on Start.
Close everything.
Then restart WMP

If the above doesn't work, post again because I am thinking that WMP missed your driver letter - The DVD drive on E: is your cd drive I think (unless you have two completely separate drives?)

street1's suggestion didn't work, even though it was set to Manual.
Still not burning CDs with Disc Creator or WMP. This sucks.

What equipment are you uing, ie, is it a built-in cd/dvd combo and a usb/firewire burner?
Or does the built-in do both?
Have you tried to clean the upper/lower filters?

CCT: it's built-in to my laptop, and no I haven't cleaned anything.
NooNoo: Sorry, I have the Local C Drive where all my stuff is and a E: Drive which is "DVD Drive".
Maybe I should have Future Shop(where I bought this) and have them check it out.

OK, I wonder why the DVD drive is E...
So we are talking about one drive in the laptop - the one that plays both DVDs and CDs.
Does it play DVDs ok?
It might be that the CD laser died, so if it is in warranty, you should check it out with future shop yes.
