I loved my Apple IIc, with the color monitor, spent 2 years saving up as a teen so I could buy a computer, and this was "it" back then for semi-portables.
Nice machines, after my first wife and I divorced, she bought one, and when I visited, I used to play a couple of games on it. One of them was Animals(?). The program had a list of a few animals included, and the player had to name an animal which the program attempted to match. If it failed, it asked a series of questions about the new animal and how it differed from animals in its database. It was both more fun and more challenging than it sounds.
The computer also included another game where you played sort of an Indiana Jones character in strictly 2D, single level graphics, and you had to navigate some sort of maze. My only vivid memories of the game were that I always encountered a small T-Rex while I was only armed with a machete and I died. The graphics were pink. But then I wasn't visiting my ex primarily to play with her computer.
Anyway, I think I'll just throw out a free, great book title: Apple: How Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader.
